Courier & Advertiser Monday 14th August 2017: CRAIGIE PAGE
Two Mysteries : "I am wondering if any of your readers could help me solve two Mysteries associated with ST MARYS SCOTTISH EPISCOPAL CHURCH in KIRRIEMUIR "says Sandra Affleck of Kirriemuir .
I am currently researching its history for a guide book for the use of future visitors coming to appreciate its restoration .
"The magnificent EAST WINDOW above the altar - designed by the church's renowned architect SIR NINIAN COMPER - is dedicated to the 10 MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION who died in the FIRST WORLD WAR .
"I have traced all of them except one GORDON ROBERTSON . There is no additional information to help identify him , and he is not listed on the War Memorial in Kirrie Hill Cemetery .
Secondly , on Sept 2nd , 1941 , a stained glass window , again by Comper, depicting St Suzanna , a woman who was martyred for her faith , was dedicated in memory of FSM "
Anyone with possible information is welcome to write to me at No 7 LORD LYEL DRIVE , KIRRIEMUIR DD 8 4 JU
( I did not realise that there was a war memorial inside this church )
