Annie Alexander is named on Peebles War Memorial and there is a page on her on the Tweeddale Book of Remembrance. She was a VAD nurse at the hospital there and succumbed to the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918, dying the day before Armistice Day. Two colleagues also died but they are recorded on CWGC. I have approached Terry Denham at In From The Cold to see what he thinks. (Thanks to Ken Morrison for his wise advice on this one!) |
